Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Reflects on Super Bowl LIX Triumph: ‘Still Processing’ the Fairytale Victory

As confetti rained down and his Philadelphia Eagles teammates erupted in celebration, Jalen Hurts remained the picture of composure at Super Bowl LIX.
After five seasons of navigating highs and lows, pressure, and immense expectations, Hurts finally achieved his dream—hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Speaking to reporters immediately after the game, the Super Bowl MVP admitted he was still processing the magnitude of the moment. That sentiment remained unchanged when he later spoke Phil Mattingly on The Lead while celebrating with his family at Walt Disney World in Florida.
“I’m still processing it,” Hurts said. “I don’t know if there’s a specific feeling you’re supposed to have. I just think about all the effort, time, and sacrifices—every drop of blood, sweat, and tears put into my career. The lessons learned through both the ups and downs make this moment even more meaningful.
“I’m deeply grateful for everything I’ve endured, and I appreciate my teammates, my family, and all the support that helped me get here.”
Hurts' performance on Sunday was nothing short of spectacular—perhaps the best of his career, college or pro. The 26-year-old set a new Super Bowl record for rushing yards (72) by a quarterback while completing 17-of-22 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, leading his team to a commanding victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
It was a championship-worthy performance, but Hurts' journey to Super Bowl glory was far from straightforward.
His first taste of the big stage came in 2017 when he led Alabama to the College Football Playoff National Championship, only to suffer a heartbreaking 35-31 loss to Clemson. A year later, he found himself benched at halftime in favor of Tua Tagovailoa, who led Alabama to victory. The setback forced Hurts into a backup role the following season.
Determined to rebuild, Hurts transferred to Oklahoma, where he re-established himself as a top NFL prospect.
By 2023, he had another shot at Super Bowl glory, guiding the Eagles to a showdown against the Chiefs. Despite an outstanding performance, he fell short once again.
Now, after finally conquering the biggest stage, Hurts reflected on the journey that led him here.
“Everything happens at the right time. You just have to stay the course,”
“My path has been filled with highs and lows, but I never ran from challenges. I never let setbacks derail my vision of becoming the best man, leader, and player I could be.
“To make history in Philadelphia and bring another championship to this city—it means everything.”
