Parker Posey Reveals She Waited 20 Years for Her ‘White Lotus’ Role

Parker Posey is receiving widespread acclaim for her performance as Victoria Ratliff in the latest season of The White Lotus. However, landing the role was a long-awaited moment.
During an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Posey shared how much she enjoyed playing the character, known for her Southern drawl.
“I was so excited,” she said about getting the scripts before filming. “I read all eight episodes in one sitting—it was such a ride.”
Meyers noted that series creator Mike White had met Posey years ago, expressing his admiration for her work. He then asked if she ever wondered whether those compliments were just words.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, write something for me. I’d love to work with you,’” Posey recalled. “This happened a few times over the past 20 years.”
Posey also let White know she was a fan of his work.
This wasn’t the first time she openly expressed her admiration for a filmmaker in hopes of landing a role. About 25 years ago, Posey was in a grocery store parking lot with director James Mangold, telling him she wished she could get better roles.
At that moment, Steven Spielberg pulled into the parking lot in a convertible with his daughter.
“I was like, ‘Hey!’” Posey recalled. “I waved at him, and he said, ‘I’m a big fan!’ And I said, ‘Give me a job, man!’”
According to Posey, that job offer never came to fruition.
