Inter Miami strengthened its position in the Eastern Conference race with a 2-1 comeback win over the New England Revolution, built around another decisive performance from Lionel Messi. The result moved Miami to 59 points, one ahead of New England, with both sides having one regular-season match left.

The hosts took the lead in the 53rd minute at Gillette Stadium. Dániel Gazdag finished a move involving Ilay Feingold and 18-year-old Peyton Miller, putting New England in front after a goalless first half.

Miami responded through the influence of its captain. Messi helped create the equalizer in the 69th minute, combining with Telasco Segovia before Germán Berterame headed the ball into the net. The goal brought the visitors level and shifted the pressure back onto New England.

Messi then supplied the decisive moment in the 83rd minute. With Segovia providing the assist, the Argentine forward finished to give Inter Miami a 2-1 lead. It was his 26th league goal of the campaign, keeping him at the top of the scoring chart.

New England appeared to have found a late response when the ball entered Miami’s net in the 87th minute following an own goal by Ian Fray. However, a video review ruled out the goal because Luca Langoni had been offside during the attacking sequence, preserving Miami’s advantage.

The defeat ended New England’s four-game winning streak. It also carried significant consequences in the conference standings: Inter Miami moved into second place on 59 points, while the Revolution remained on 58.

For Miami, the victory also ended a two-match winless stretch and marked the club’s 10th away win of the season. Messi’s contribution was central to the result, while Berterame and Segovia provided the attacking support that converted the comeback into three points.

Both teams now turn to the final round of the regular season. Inter Miami is scheduled to host Charlotte FC, while New England travels to face Orlando City. With only one point separating the clubs, their final fixtures could prove important in determining the Eastern Conference playoff positions.
