Martin Short Joins SNL's Five-Timers Club in Star-Studded Episode
This weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live was a celebration of comedic greatness as Martin Short was inducted into the exclusive “five-timers club.” The occasion brought together a dazzling array of past SNL hosts, including Tom Hanks, Emma Stone, Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Alec Baldwin, Scarlett Johansson, and John Mulaney, who joined in the festivities.
Tom Hanks led the humorous ceremony, with the group sharing outrageous "confessions." Paul Rudd joked about Ant-Man’s lackluster powers, Tina Fey quipped about piloting drones, and Hanks delivered a deadpan, “I never had COVID,” to which Johansson hilariously replied, “I have COVID, right now!” Meanwhile, Baldwin smoked a cigarette in the background and joked about having too many children.
The sketch concluded with Jimmy Fallon presenting Short with the official five-timers club jacket, which the comedic legend struggled to put on before joining the group in the iconic line, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
Martin Short, a former SNL cast member from 1984–1985, first hosted the show in 1986 alongside Steve Martin and Chevy Chase. His most recent hosting gig was two years ago, also alongside his Only Murders in the Building co-star Steve Martin.
