"I'm Thankful He's Here" – Djokovic Praises Coach Murray

A triumphant roar followed by a heartfelt embrace—Novak Djokovic’s emotions were on full display after securing a place in the Australian Open quarter-finals with a stunning victory over Carlos Alcaraz. The win defied expectations, logic, and expert predictions.
Overcome with joy and relief, Djokovic immediately turned to his coach, Andy Murray, burying his head in the Briton's chest in a moment of deep gratitude.
The celebration marked a milestone in Murray’s unexpected coaching journey, as the former rival-turned-mentor helped guide Djokovic to a crucial victory.
"It was a gesture of appreciation and respect for him, for the fact that he's there when he doesn't have to be," said Djokovic, 37, who was born just a week after Murray in May 1987.
"He chose to work with me, fully supporting me and the entire team, doing everything he can to make it work."
When Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, announced in November that he had enlisted recently retired Murray as his coach, many thought it was a joke. But for both men, winning is no laughing matter.
Throughout Djokovic’s campaign at Melbourne Park, Murray has been intensely focused, strategizing ways to help his player claim a record 25th Grand Slam title. His relief was evident when Djokovic edged past 21-year-old Alcaraz, exhaling heavily after the hard-fought win.
After battling through an upper left leg injury to defeat the Spanish third seed, Djokovic made his way over to Murray, embracing his fist-pumping coach.
"This was a huge win for all of us—including Andy and me, for our relationship," Djokovic added.
"That’s why I went to him—I felt truly grateful that he's here."
