Gary Neville Warns of Manchester United Crisis After Ninth Winless Game
The former United captain criticizes the team's defensive collapse and questions Lisandro Martinez's performances following the defeat to Chelsea.

Manchester United are facing growing concerns over their deteriorating form, with former club captain Gary Neville describing the team's current situation as increasingly worrying following their latest defeat to Chelsea.
United's 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge extended their winless streak to nine consecutive matches across all competitions, marking their longest such run since 1984. The result has intensified questions about the team's ability to recover, particularly with a demanding schedule approaching.
Speaking about the club's struggles, Neville pointed to a recurring pattern of poor results and declining performances. He acknowledged that United had shown some positive signs during the first half against Chelsea, but stressed that the team lacked the discipline and resilience required to withstand difficult periods during matches.
According to Neville, United's biggest weakness is their reaction when conceding a goal. Rather than maintaining their organization and fighting their way back into the contest, the players often lose their composure, allowing opponents to take greater control.
The former defender also warned that the upcoming fixtures could expose these weaknesses further. United are scheduled to face Roma in the Champions League, followed by Aston Villa and Liverpool, three challenging encounters against teams capable of exploiting defensive instability.
Despite the alarming situation, Neville does not currently believe Manchester United are heading towards relegation. However, he considers the club's declining performances and inability to collect results a serious cause for concern.
Martinez Under Fire After Chelsea Defeat
Neville also delivered strong criticism of Lisandro Martinez following the defender's disappointing display against Chelsea. Martinez was sent off after receiving two yellow cards, in what was only his second start since publicly criticizing the club's leadership.
Neville questioned the Argentine defender's consistency, arguing that his individual mistakes have repeatedly contributed to goals conceded by Manchester United. He specifically held Martinez responsible for Chelsea's opening goal and criticized his involvement in the defensive errors that followed.
While acknowledging Martinez's status as a World Cup winner, Neville insisted that the defender's recurring mistakes remain a significant problem for the team.
He also highlighted the broader defensive shortcomings within the squad, arguing that United's back line continues to struggle whenever opponents apply sustained pressure.
With several important matches approaching, Manchester United face an urgent challenge to restore defensive stability, improve their performances and end a winless run that has placed the team under increasing scrutiny.
