Dr. Ghada Ali, a distinguished expert in governance, insurance, and risk management, participated as a featured speaker at the FRA Sandbox Annual Summit 2026, held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo.

Dr. Ali, who is also a faculty member at Cairo University, a former member of the Egyptian Parliament, and a board member at Emtelaak Fund, joined a panel discussion titled “Promising Innovations.” The session explored emerging projects and the future of innovation within Egypt’s non-banking financial sector.

Representing Emtelaak, Dr. Ali emphasized that successful financial innovation requires more than a promising idea. It also needs a safe and flexible regulatory environment where new solutions can be tested, potential risks assessed, and business models refined before being introduced to the public.

She highlighted the important role of the Financial Regulatory Authority’s regulatory sandbox in bringing together innovators, regulators, investors, and financial-sector leaders. This collaborative environment helps transform creative ideas into practical, sustainable, and scalable investment solutions.

The summit attracted more than 500 participants from financial institutions, government agencies, universities, research centers, and the private sector, along with entrepreneurs, investors, and financial technology specialists.

The event also showcased the regulatory sandbox’s achievements during its first year. The program received 49 project applications, granted preliminary approval to nine projects, and advanced two projects to the live-testing stage. Regulatory guidance was also provided to approximately 45 companies.

Dr. Ali’s participation reflected the growing importance of combining academic expertise, professional experience, and investment leadership to support responsible innovation while maintaining strong standards of governance, risk management, and consumer protection.

The FRA Sandbox Annual Summit represents another important step toward strengthening Egypt’s position in financial technology and creating new opportunities for innovative ideas to develop into successful projects that support investment, financial inclusion, and sustainable economic growth.
