Dana Gabriel Seeks Matawan-Aberdeen School Board Seat With Focus on Transparency and Parental Engagement
Matawan parent and district resident Dana Gabriel is seeking a school board seat with priorities focused on accountable spending, stronger family communication and student achievement.

The Matawan resident and district parent identifies responsible spending, stronger communication and student success as central campaign priorities.
MATAWAN, N.J. — TN News — Dana Gabriel is seeking a seat on the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District Board of Education, presenting a platform centered on parental engagement, transparent decision-making and responsible stewardship of school resources.
A Matawan resident since 2013 and the mother of two children attending district schools, Gabriel says her candidacy grew from a desire to better understand—and participate in—the decisions shaping her children’s education.
According to her campaign materials, discussions about school redistricting prompted her to begin attending board meetings regularly, connecting with other parents and examining the district’s decision-making process. That experience, she says, reinforced the importance of family participation in school governance.
Gabriel’s platform emphasizes representation for parents who cannot attend every board meeting but whose families are directly affected by district decisions. She maintains that board members have a responsibility to understand those concerns and ensure they receive consideration.
Transparency is another central commitment. Gabriel says she would work to keep families informed about issues facing the district and encourage their feedback before decisions are made. Her campaign extends that principle beyond high-profile matters such as redistricting to include educational materials, budget choices and school policies.
Her approach to financial oversight calls for careful management of taxpayer dollars, a review of redundant or unnecessary spending and community input on district priorities. While her campaign materials do not identify specific proposed reductions, they establish fiscal responsibility as a key part of her platform.
Gabriel also places student achievement and educational opportunity at the center of her message, pledging to support the best possible education for every student in the district.
Together, these priorities frame a candidacy rooted in her experience as a parent and resident. Her campaign’s emphasis is on strengthening the connection between families and the board, with informed participation and accountable decision-making guiding that relationship.
Running under the message “Committed. Caring. Leadership.,” Gabriel is asking voters to consider a platform that brings parental concerns, financial oversight and students’ educational needs into the same conversation about the district’s future.
