About 100 demonstrators were arrested near United Nations headquarters on Thursday as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the UN General Assembly. Actors Susan Sarandon and Hannah Einbinder were among those detained.

The arrests took place during a demonstration organized by Jewish Voice for Peace on First Avenue. Protesters blocked the roadway and called for an end to U.S. support for Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Police ordered participants to leave before taking demonstrators into custody.

Jewish Voice for Peace said more than 100 people were arrested. TN News has not independently confirmed a final arrest count with the NYPD.

The demonstration was one of several in New York during Netanyahu’s visit. Protesters gathered near the UN to oppose his appearance and demand accountability for Israel’s actions in Gaza.
