Waymo has officially opened its autonomous robotaxi service in Dallas to all residents and visitors after removing the waiting list that had limited access during the initial rollout. The decision represents another milestone in the Alphabet-owned company's long-term strategy to scale commercial autonomous mobility while strengthening public confidence in self-driving transportation across major urban markets.

Anyone in Dallas can now download the Waymo application and immediately request an autonomous ride without requiring prior approval or invitation. Although airport transportation remains unavailable for the moment, the company confirmed that testing continues at Dallas Love Field Airport, with commercial operations expected once validation and regulatory readiness are completed.

The Dallas expansion reflects a carefully structured deployment model rather than a rapid market launch. Waymo first entered the city in 2025 by testing its autonomous driving technology on public roads before announcing commercial plans for 2026. This gradual implementation allowed the company to gather extensive operational data, refine mapping capabilities, validate vehicle behavior under real-world traffic conditions, and improve passenger experience before opening access to the broader public.

The removal of the waiting list follows a deployment model previously adopted in Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. During the limited-access phase in Dallas, approximately 150,000 riders used the Waymo application, providing valuable operational feedback that helped validate service readiness before unrestricted public availability.
