Famod Konneh promoted to Deputy Commissioner/Ethnic Outreach
Atia Shahnaz continues as Muslim Women Liaison
Mayor Adams emphasized the importance of diversity in city leadership, stating, “New York City’s strength lies in our communities, and today’s appointments will ensure our Muslim brothers and sisters are well represented.”
Mohamed Amen, an NYPD detective and proud Muslim immigrant from Egypt, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honored to serve as the Muslim senior advisor in the Mayor’s Office Community Affairs Unit. This appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to building an inclusive city that represents our rich diversity.”
With one in nine New Yorkers identifying as Muslim, these appointments reflect a commitment to representation and engagement across the city.
