NEW YORK — H.E. Ambassador Tamer Kamel El-Meligy, Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in New York and the Northeastern United States, received senior officials from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Foreign Missions for high-level discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and supporting members of the Egyptian community across the United States.

The meeting was attended by Cliff Seagroves, Acting Director of the Office of Foreign Missions in Washington, D.C., and Kathy Eagen, Regional Director of the Office of Foreign Missions in New York.

Discussions addressed recent regulatory procedures and public-awareness guidance issued by local U.S. authorities concerning foreign communities, including Egyptian nationals residing in the United States.

The two sides also exchanged views on expanding coordination between the Egyptian Consulate General and the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Foreign Missions. Particular attention was given to addressing matters affecting Egyptian residents and Egyptian Americans, while ensuring that all efforts remain consistent with applicable U.S. laws and regulations.

The meeting explored practical mechanisms through which the Consulate General and relevant U.S. authorities can coordinate their efforts, strengthen communication with the Egyptian community, and facilitate access to the consular services provided to Egyptian citizens throughout the Consulate’s jurisdiction.

The American officials expressed their appreciation for the Consulate General’s continued efforts to strengthen the important and active role played by the Egyptian community in the United States. They also praised Egyptian Americans from diverse professional backgrounds for their meaningful contributions to American society and its ongoing development.

Both sides emphasized that the Egyptian community serves as an important cultural and civic bridge between Egypt and the United States, helping reinforce the distinguished strategic relationship and longstanding partnership between the two countries.
