LOS ANGELESJennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, two of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, first crossed paths in 2000 when Witherspoon made a guest appearance on Friends, playing Aniston’s self-absorbed sister. Their on-screen chemistry sparked an off-screen friendship that would eventually lead to a powerful professional alliance.

Nearly two decades later, the duo reunited to co-create and co-star in The Morning Show, an Emmy-winning drama that explores the high-stakes world of morning television. Now heading into its fourth season, premiering Sept 17 on Apple TV+, the series continues to reflect and respond to real-world issues.

“I never imagined that my baby sister on Friends would become my producing partner and co-star,” Aniston said during a recent press event held via Zoom from New York. “This show is one of the most meaningful projects of my career.”

🌟 A Show Fueled by Real Issues

Originally not intended to be a topical series, The Morning Show quickly adapted to address current events such as the Me Too movement, the COVID-19 pandemic, and in its upcoming season, the rise of artificial intelligence and declining trust in journalism.

“Once the Me Too movement happened, it became impossible to ignore,” said Aniston. “It changed the tone of Season 1, and the show has remained reflective of the world ever since.”

💪 Women Leading the Way

Both actresses stress the importance of female leadership in entertainment. Aniston, now 56, emphasized the need for more female directors, writers, and producers, noting how rare it once was for women to even be considered for such roles.

“There was a time when women weren’t invited to the table,” she said. “Now, we’re creating the table.”

Witherspoon, 49, added that their friendship made The Morning Show possible.

“I wouldn’t have done it unless Jen was in it with me,” she said. “Collaboration has been our biggest strength.”

🎥 A Partnership That Works

The two stars admit that the show has become smoother to produce over time. Aniston credits their strong production team and complementary skills.

“There are areas where I don’t excel, but Reese or someone else steps in. That’s the beauty of working with people you trust.”

Witherspoon, who previously produced Big Little Lies, adds that The Morning Show is the longest job she’s held and one of the most rewarding.

“We’ve grown into a rhythm, and it’s been such a powerful journey.”

🚀 Advice for Aspiring Women in Film

When asked what advice they’d offer to women trying to break into the entertainment industry, both stars had empowering messages.

Aniston: “Go for what you want. Go for the gold. Don’t take no for an answer.”

Witherspoon:Collaboration is your greatest advantage. Build with people you trust.”
